About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for multiple software development teams
  • Build, manage, and secure containerized applications using industry-standard tools and best practices
  • Lead and support migration efforts from Bitbucket to GitLab
  • Apply knowledge of build servers and GitLab Runners to support reliable, scalable automation
  • Embed security best practices into development and deployment workflows
  • Train, mentor, and coach team members on DevSecOps tools, principles, and processes
  • Support the U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) as part of a high-performing engineering team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 0 years experience with a Master’s in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience
  • Solid hands-on experience with GitLab
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Docker for building, securing, and managing container images
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes for deploying, configuring, and securing containerized workloads
  • Experience with Terraform for provisioning cloud or on-premises infrastructure
  • Experience with Ansible for configuration management and environment automation
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Knowledge of SAST/DAST tools
  • Knowledge of secrets management tools such as HashiCorp Vault or GitLab secure variables
  • Experience configuring, scaling, and troubleshooting GitLab Runner
  • Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
  • Experience with ELK stack or OpenSearch
  • Basic observability practices
  • Strong comfort with Linux administration, shell, systemd, processes, and permissions
  • Knowledge of DNS, firewalls, routing, and certificates/TLS
  • Knowledge of package management, patching, and server hardening basics
  • Experience with Jira or similar workflow/issue tracking tools
  • Experience with Confluence or wiki-based documentation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required
  • Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Software Engineer family
