About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to development of advanced capabilities for integration into autonomous Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs)
- Participate in product life cycle analysis
- Develop and manage technical data packages for new and existing designs
- Bring designs through first article release, testing, integration, delivery to manufacturing, and manufacturing support and improvements
- Design and document electrical system wiring diagrams and cable assemblies for new development, production, and sustaining efforts
- Support manufacturing on issues involving hardware, wiring, cabling, drawings, and other design aspects
- Support PC board layout and electrical hardware design implementation
- Communicate designs and issues across a multi-discipline team and corresponding departments
- Assist with electrical and electronics systems design, firmware coding, and circuit simulation
- Assist in designing and fabricating test fixtures and prototypes
- Develop electrical test procedures for circuit boards, assemblies, and subassemblies
- Maintain bills of materials, update design documents and process sheets, and incorporate Engineering Changes
- Research equivalent electrical and electronic components to resolve manufacturer or material shortages
- Assist with engineering estimates and proposals
- Perform project management duties as assigned
- Travel to offsite and possibly overseas locations as required
- Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, software systems, and networks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Level 1: 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field
- Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field
- Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
- Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
- Marine electrical system and power distribution design experience
- Experience developing electrical system design documentation, including block diagrams, wiring diagrams, electrical cable assembly/wiring harness drawings
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance
- Experience with OrCAD for electrical designs
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers; Siemens a plus
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary product development teams, including technical leadership of small projects
- Experience architecting platform electrical and power systems
- Experience working with cybersecurity products
- Familiarity with marine systems containing hardware and software components developed and produced for DoD use
- Attention to detail and ability to develop and maintain accurate documentation
- Ability to climb ladders and tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variances
