About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide testing according to specific test procedures using measuring instruments and computer test programs for vehicle systems or products
- Provide customer support and training for new and existing customers in-house and in the field
- Support production and manufacturing functions
- Support production and assembly of test boards
- Maintain vehicle repairs and upgrades and execute test procedures on new and existing vehicles
- Perform pre-mission tasks, including vehicle mission programming and vehicle checkout
- Recognize when equipment is out of specification
- Perform post-mission data download and analysis
- Perform level-one troubleshooting, including visual inspection, DVM use, and basic schematic reading
- Lead routine vehicle systems field operations for testing and design missions to perform required tasks
- Document test results completely and communicate them to required stakeholders
- Read and interpret specific test procedures and document results
- Perform responsibilities in support of Product Quality Standards
- Communicate design problems and bugs to the appropriate organizational areas
- Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and software at customer or field locations
- Analyze and evaluate products and related performance
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to resolve problems quickly
- Install, upgrade, and remove products while coordinating engineering field changes
- Maintain effective customer communications and relationships
- Provide onsite training
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years related experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance
- Required travel: local sea/boat testing at 25–40%; customer-site training as required at 1–2 weeks per trip; possibility of extensive travel
- Experience integrating and testing software and hardware on marine robotics is a bonus
- Comfortable working and operating in a marine environment on small to large boats/vessels is a bonus
- Must be able to work in the field unsupervised
- May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment
- Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level
- May encounter extremes of temperature, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors
