About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support production, sustaining, and new product introduction efforts through manufacturing engineering analysis, implementation, and leadership
- Respond to production issues and provide hands-on support to diagnose and resolve manufacturing problems
- Lead failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation for product and process nonconformances
- Develop, document, and implement manufacturing process updates to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost
- Recommend and support design improvements for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, reliability, and producibility
- Communicate manufacturing issues, process changes, improvement plans, risks, and technical status to departments and senior leadership
- Provide manufacturing support documentation, work instructions, process flows, and engineering changes
- Support development and release of technical data packages, manufacturing methods, and production documentation
- Drive configuration management in products and manufacturing processes
- Estimate production and cost impacts of manufacturing changes, process improvements, and design updates
- Lead a team of 5–10 cross-discipline engineers
- Coordinate and prioritize production support activities across multiple issues, products, and functional teams
- Mentor junior engineers in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve recurring production issues and implement long-term corrective actions
- Support manufacturing readiness, process improvement, and production risk reduction activities
- Design manufacturing processes, procedures, production layouts, operation sequences, and fabrication procedures
- Inspect machinery, equipment, and tools; investigate deficiencies and initiate corrective action
- Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control
- Provide engineering guidance on design concepts and specification requirements
- Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience
- Experience with management and defense manufacturing
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance
- Preferred: experience with failure Root Cause and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS)
- Preferred: experience working in a direct production support/response role
- Preferred: experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred: experience in manufacturing process development, documentation, and continuous improvement
- Preferred: experience supporting engineering changes and configuration management in production
- Preferred: experience interpreting engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical data packages
- Preferred: experience with new product introduction and transition to production
- Preferred: experience working in a cross functional team environment
- Preferred: experience supporting electro-mechanical assembly or complex systems manufacturing
- May require ability to climb ladders and tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variances
