About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute to development of advanced capabilities for autonomous systems
  • Participate in product life cycle analysis
  • Develop and manage technical data packages for new and existing designs
  • Work in cross-functional design teams
  • Bring designs through first article release, testing, integration, delivery to manufacturing, and manufacturing support and improvements
  • Support new development and manufacturing efforts in mechanical design and implementations
  • Select materials for underwater applications
  • Perform structural analysis, electronic packing, and CAD modeling
  • Research, develop, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products for underwater applications
  • Coordinate fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems
  • Contribute to configuration management
  • Ensure transition from engineering design to manufacturing
  • Build prototypes and test fixtures
  • Communicate and support departmental mechanical design efforts
  • Research, plan, design, verify, validate, and develop mechanical and electromechanical products and systems
  • Recommend technology options for safety, performance, efficiency, or cost improvements
  • Support transfer from R&D to manufacturing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Level 1: 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field
  • Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field
  • Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
  • Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance
  • Knowledge of Enterprise PDM (EPDM) in support of 3D modeling tools (Solidworks) is a bonus
  • Manufacturing experience with marine products is a bonus
  • Failure Analysis experience is a bonus
  • Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances
  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment
