About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer, maintain, and provide cybersecurity defense for Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network client, server, and network infrastructure
  • Maintain smooth operation of LAN, WAN, and VPN networks
  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and voice communication networks
  • Maintain technical expertise in routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, and related network interfaces
  • Propose and configure communications solutions to meet current and future requirements and optimize cost savings
  • Prepare and maintain network documentation, including operational instructions
  • Monitor and analyze networks for short- and long-range in-house systems planning
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment
  • Design networks or network segments, including hardware and software selection
  • Update, monitor, and maintain servers, workstations, and network devices across the enterprise
  • Perform Microsoft Windows client/server administration, maintenance, and patching
  • Configure systems in compliance with DoD STIGs
  • Travel to multiple sites in support of the NITE contract
  • Support operational events, including occasional 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor's degree in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Master's degree in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
  • Security+ or equivalent certification
  • Must possess and be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance
  • Experience with Windows desktop operating systems (WIN10 SHB)
  • Experience with Cisco switching/troubleshooting connectivity issues
  • Experience digesting and implementing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)
  • Experience patching Microsoft servers and workstations
  • Experience with VMware
  • Experience with network and performance monitoring tools (SolarWinds, etc.)
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and digest technical information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer focus and ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to work occasional 12-hour shifts, including potential weekends and holidays
  • Enterprise Patching systems preferred
  • Cisco experience preferred
  • Linux+/Microsoft/Cisco certification preferred
  • 4–7 years of related experience
  • Required travel: 0–10%
