About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a Senior Technical Advisor on GPS, timing, two-way time transfer, navigation system integration, new technology development, and flight testing
  • Support ANT Center faculty and graduate students at the Air Force Institute of Technology
  • Work with faculty, students, and Research Engineers to evaluate new algorithms and tools for autonomy and advanced navigation research projects
  • Review laboratory and flight test plans
  • Recommend and prioritize new technology development for testing and evaluation
  • Actively participate in evaluation of algorithms and system performance
  • Support cutting-edge research advancing autonomy and navigation technologies and defense capabilities
  • Work in a secure, customer-facing environment at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in GPS, timing, two-way time transfer, navigation system integration and flight testing, or related research areas
  • Experience with Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) technologies, including Global Navigation Satellite Systems, inertial navigation sensors and air data systems, GPS performance in degraded areas, anti-jam GPS technologies, flight testing, and timing/two-way time transfer techniques for aircraft
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Willingness to actively participate in evaluation of algorithms and system performance
  • Ability to obtain Secret clearance; Secret clearance preferred
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Unable to sponsor work visas or employ individuals under Green Card/Permanent Residence/Asylee/Refugee status due to federal contract requirements
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Preferred: 20+ years of professional experience in relevant PNT research areas
  • Preferred active Secret clearance at the time of application
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods at a computer workstation
  • Occasional lifting of up to approximately 25 lbs
  • Ability to access data center or lab environments, including bending, stooping, or climbing short ladders
  • Ability to travel occasionally if required
