About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the Operational Research Team for United States Pacific Command (US PACOM)
Engage with the Indo-Pacific planning community to determine research focus
Design research using the Scientific Method
Develop realistic operational scenarios
Support and utilize quantitative research by modeling and simulation subject matter experts
Conduct qualitative research using the Socratic Method with subject matter experts
Conduct analyses to identify potential improvements in U.S. plans and policies
Present findings to planners and senior leaders
Mine data for use by modeling and simulation subject matter experts
Lead seminars with subject matter experts and military planners
Produce in-depth findings using analytical methods

Requirements

What you’ll need

15 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 13 years with a Master's degree; 10 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience
Extensive experience in military joint operational planning and operational arts at the campaign and/or theater-strategic level
Extensive experience in military operations and/or operational planning in the US PACOM Theater
Wargaming experience at the campaign/theater-strategic level
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Outstanding interpersonal skills
Excellent time management skills
Must be able to travel roughly 25%
Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
Graduation from Service Advanced Studies Group School (e.g., SAMS, SAW, MAWS, SAASS, JAWS) preferred
Operations research experience preferred
Familiarity with the Scientific Method and Socratic Method preferred
Experience utilizing Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) system outputs preferred
Familiarity with Behavioral Science-related fields preferred
