About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop Security Cooperation strategies, policies, and guidance aligned with the National Defense Strategy and SOUTHCOM Campaign Plan
- Assist with strategic planning, combined exercises, exchanges, conferences, bilateral/multilateral working groups, and key leader engagements
- Integrate Climate Resiliency, Women, Peace, and Security, and Civilian Harm Risk Mitigation initiatives into Security Cooperation activities
- Support the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution cycle for Security Cooperation initiatives
- Develop and recommend prioritization and resourcing of Security Cooperation activities
- Manage international program logistics, including quota coordination and training requirements
- Draft memorandums, policy papers, white papers, and other Security Cooperation/Security Assistance documents
- Coordinate with stakeholders to develop and execute Security Cooperation cases within appropriate timelines
- Support data entry into management systems and ensure defense articles and services are tracked and delivered timely
- Conduct initial assessments to establish baselines and track progress toward initiative outcomes
- Evaluate Security Cooperation programs for effectiveness, sustainability, and supportability
- Provide comprehensive support for strategy, planning, and policy development related to Security Cooperation in alignment with the National Defense Strategy and SOUTHCOM Campaign Plan
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience
- Possess and maintain a SECRET clearance
- Knowledge of data visualization techniques
- Experience gathering, analyzing and presenting data at the executive level
- 2+ years of experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to support decision-making
- Ability to provide executive-level briefings and reports
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities and tasks
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience with the Joint Planning Process and Significant Security Cooperation Initiatives development process
- Preferred: experience using SOCIUM, a cloud-based activity and workflow management tool
- Preferred: experience with Security Cooperation policies
- Preferred: experience in regional security issues, coordinating interagency and international events, supporting international programs, or defense training and education
- Preferred: familiarity with the Joint Planning Process
- Preferred: knowledge of DoD Security Cooperation AM&E Policy and significant security cooperation initiative-centric planning process
- Preferred: ability to provide recommendations on security cooperation process and program improvement
