About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Fabricate precision wood, plastic, and composite components for specialized devices and systems
Manufacture components from prototype through low-volume production in a rapid development environment
Perform electro/mechanical assembly and related subtasks
Operate woodworking equipment, including CNC router
Operate the waterjet
Review designs with engineering and assess manufacturability
Assist with setup and maintenance of wood and composites labs
Maintain woodworking equipment according to manufacturers’ recommendations
Assist in the finishing lab as required
Support engineering staff as required
Maintain a safe and organized work area
Comply with corporate policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience
10 years demonstrated experience setting up and operating CNC Mills & Lathes, manual lathes, manual mills, and/or various secondary equipment
5 years demonstrated experience mechanical skills instruction
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret clearance
Ability to fabricate precision wood, plastic, and composite components per drawings and/or CAD models
Certifications in J-Standard and IPC may be required
Working knowledge of MasterCam may be required
Ability to independently operate woodworking equipment, including CNC router
Ability to independently operate the waterjet
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to work in industrial or shipboard environments and tolerate temperature, pollution, humidity, and noise extremes
Normally able to lift up to 40 pounds above three feet from floor level
