About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the lead technical authority on shipboard mechanical and HVAC/ventilation systems for naval and maritime platforms
- Provide technical expertise for system design, modification, and operational assessments
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time
- Install, upgrade and remove products while ensuring coordinated engineering field changes
- Maintain effective customer communications and relations
- Provide onsite training of customer support personnel as needed
- Interface with shipyard personnel, ship’s engineering teams, and government stakeholders to ensure system performance and compliance
- Assist in developing test procedures and conduct shipboard testing and validation as needed
- Support logistics planning, including parts provisioning, technical manuals, and training materials
- Maintain knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including ABS, DCM, ASHRAE, MIL-STD, and NAVSEA standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
- Ability to manage, oversee, schedule and assign tasks to one or more multiple jobs
- Experience assessing, troubleshooting, and repairing ventilation exhaust/supply/recirculation systems
- Demonstrated experience with U.S. Navy or commercial marine platforms
- Strong understanding of shipboard system integration and configuration management
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Experience with NAVSEA Technical Manuals, ILS, and shipcheck processes
- Ability to lift, carry and transport at least 30 lbs
- Ability to work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
- Ability to work in high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, aloft or over the sides of vessels
- May ride ships at sea for extended periods
- May require wearing a respirator
- Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
