About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop new control system software for unmanned systems
- Fuse software with an advanced common operating picture capability for an optimized naval mission management tool
- Design, develop, and maintain solutions for complex, multi-domain, and heterogeneous autonomy fleet control challenges
- Document software development requirements, design, and implementation
- Communicate findings, problems, and solutions to functional and project teams and external customers
- Coordinate with system, firmware, hardware, and other engineering teams
- Participate in product development phases, including requirements review, design, usability, risk assessment, and defect review
- Follow software development processes and best practices
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers
- Determine computer user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve software problems
- Prepare operating instructions and ensure software standards are met
Requirements
What you’ll need- Level 1: 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience
- Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience
- Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience
- BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics Engineering
- 5+ years hands-on experience in embedded software programming in C++ and Python
- Experience with Linux operating systems
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance
- Ability to successfully function in a team with cross-functional team members and multi-tasking
- Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family
