About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collect, organize, and transform technical and operational information into formal documentation
- Engage with engineers, developers, system administrators, and operators to collect accurate technical information
- Observe system operations, integration activities, troubleshooting sessions, technical demonstrations, test events, and system bring-up activities
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to extract procedural and technical details
- Create, update, and maintain installation guides, test procedures, troubleshooting steps, operational workflows, system summaries, after-action captures, and configuration references
- Standardize document formatting, terminology, numbering, tables, headers, footers, fonts, and figure references
- Generate checklists, process flows, and supporting forms
- Maintain version control, change tracking, and document revision histories
- Conduct first-line quality reviews for accuracy, readability, formatting compliance, and template adherence
- Coordinate reviews with subject matter experts and track document progress and review status
- Translate complex technical language into clear procedural instructions for managers and operators
- Identify documentation gaps and propose content improvements
- Collaborate with government, contractor, and engineering stakeholders to verify technical accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Participate in project kickoff meetings and documentation planning sessions
- Support on-site modeling, simulation, and training capabilities for government personnel at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience
- Experience producing technical documentation in a structured environment
- Ability to write system engineering reports, software development reports, manuals, presentations, design, development, and test/user documentation
- Ability to define and implement manageable configuration management processes, including check-out/check-in, build, and release
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Windows, and Linux operating systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have had an active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance, with supporting SAP/SPR clearances
- Preferred: Active or current DoD Top Secret SCI Clearance
- Preferred: Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE)
- Preferred: Experience supporting DoD, Air Force, or complex engineering environments
- Preferred: Familiarity with networking, cyber, A/V, or simulation systems
- Preferred: Experience working alongside integration labs, test events, or system deployments
- Preferred: Ability to translate technical team terminology into polished, manager-ready documentation
- Required on-site support; position is not eligible for remote work
