About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct UAS flight operations including pre-flight planning, launch, recovery, mission execution, and emergency procedures
  • Perform detailed pre-flight and post-flight inspections to verify system airworthiness
  • Operate and manage onboard payloads such as EO/IR sensors, wide-area search systems, and other mission-specific equipment
  • Monitor aircraft performance and assist in troubleshooting autonomy, communications, and subsystem issues
  • Maintain mission logs, flight records, and regulatory documentation
  • Coordinate with airspace authorities, mission planners, and HII team members to ensure safe and compliant UAS operations
  • Support UAS maintenance activities and interface with technical teams for repairs, upgrades, and system integration
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required to support operational deployments
  • Support advanced unmanned aviation operations across maritime, littoral, and remote environments
  • Support OCONUS mission requirements through regular travel to Latin America, with rotations generally 60 days in duration

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Master's in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience operating the Flexrotor UAS platform
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Strong understanding of airspace classifications, UAS flight principles, and aviation safety protocols
  • Proficiency with mission planning tools and ground control systems
  • Ability to operate in dynamic environments, including onboard ships and remote locations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in variable environmental conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during aircraft operations
  • Preferred: Experience supporting ISR missions or long-endurance UAS operations
  • Preferred: Prior military, defense, or maritime UAS operational experience
  • Preferred: Familiarity with UAS maintenance procedures and sensor data analysis
  • Preferred: Possess and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Required travel: 26–50%
