About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Mission Technologies’ financial accounting and reporting activities through a professional finance organization
- Analyze financial results and apply accepted accounting principles and methods
- Ensure HII and Mission Technologies finance policies and procedures are consistently implemented and followed
- Maintain an effective internal control environment in compliance with the SOX Compliance Plan
- Lead quarterly compliance activities and management’s annual control self-assessment program
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial close cycles and ensure timely, accurate U.S. GAAP reporting
- Perform month-end analysis, investigate variances, and provide financial insight to leadership
- Provide financial interpretation, analysis, and support while monitoring compliance with government accounting standards, rules, and regulations
- Review cash flows, financial position, operating results, and variance analyses
- Prepare quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) presentations
- Manage internal and external audits and execute remediation plans for audit findings
- Foster an integrated finance culture focused on productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency
- Provide accounting direction, financial expertise, and analytical support to functions across Mission Technologies
- Provide ad hoc financial analyses for Mission Technologies and HII leadership
- Participate in special projects at the discretion of the CFO and President
- Lead, coach, develop, and support direct reports and the broader finance organization
- Report directly to the Mission Technologies CFO
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 10+ years of progressive experience in audit, accounting, and SEC reporting
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- Big Four public accounting experience
- Government accounting experience
- Audit or transaction services experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, PCAOB standards, and SEC financial rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge of SOX requirements and the COSO framework
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent project management, interpersonal, and coaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and effectively prioritize diverse responsibilities
- MBA or Master of Accountancy (bonus)
- Aerospace and Defense industry or Fortune 500 experience (bonus)
