About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects
- Serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management
- Review project and budget status
- Manage schedules and prepare status reports
- Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress, intervention, and problem solving
- Interact directly with contractors, customers, and staff to ensure timely and cost-effective accomplishment of project goals
- Provide oversight of all production personnel on an assigned vessel
- Serve as advisor to lower-level managers and exempt employees
- Help meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems
- Support shipbuilding, overhaul, and Foreign Military Sales efforts through coordination with contractors, customers, and project staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ten (10) years of experience in management of complex projects involving USG ships, submarines, or combat systems
- Experience in naval shipbuilding and overhaul in a public or private shipyard environment
- Experience managing a large and diverse group of individuals ranging from professional to industrial worker
- Experience in management of schedules for large and complex projects
- Foreign Military Sales (FMS) experience is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for such clearance
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including extended stays in support of overseas customer engagements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and CAC card
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or business-related field
- Preferred: Experience supporting multi-site or complex naval programs, including shipbuilding/overhaul environments
- Preferred: Experience supporting international customer engagements involving foreign government information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling requirements
- Preferred: A current or active security clearance
- May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment
- Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level
