About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and oversee centralized corporate accounting activities throughout monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Review general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, allocations, accounting transactions, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Establish and maintain close processes, controls, and timelines for accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Partner with project and operational entity accounting teams to ensure consistent accounting treatment
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and conclusions for complex transactions and business activities
  • Monitor U.S. GAAP changes and implement their impact
  • Prepare and review schedules, analyses, financial statement disclosures, and documentation for quarterly and annual external reporting
  • Coordinate external audit requests and serve as a key contact for external auditors
  • Serve as executive escalation point for critical U.S.-based Accounts Payable matters during U.S. business hours
  • Oversee Accounts Payable service delivery, root cause analysis, process improvements, vendor satisfaction, and controls
  • Prepare and review analyses supporting budgets, forecasts, planning, management reporting, operating results, capital expenditures, and project activity
  • Leverage accounting systems and data analytics to improve accounting process quality, efficiency, and scalability
  • Participate in ERP and financial systems implementations, enhancements, and optimization
  • Develop and maintain reporting and analytical tools using Excel, Power BI, and other platforms
  • Lead, develop, mentor, and coach accounting professionals
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, IT, and other corporate functions
  • Communicate complex accounting matters to accounting and non-accounting stakeholders
  • Promote internal controls and compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting experience within a complex asset-intensive environment
  • Active CPA license or equivalent professional accounting certification
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated technical accounting experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of Property, Plant & Equipment and long-lived assets, asset retirement obligations, ASC 842 Lease Accounting, financing obligations, capitalized costs, and capitalized interest
  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting a complex general ledger close process
  • Strong experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, financial analysis, and audit support
  • Prior experience with Yardi and Oracle Fusion
  • Experience with QBI platform
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, data analysis, and large data sets
  • Experience with capital projects, construction-in-progress, fixed assets, and asset transfers
  • Experience supporting SOX 404 environments and internal control design and testing
  • Experience with ERP implementations, including Oracle Fusion
  • Experience working with offshore or geographically distributed accounting teams
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing transactions, or other complex corporate transactions
  • Big Four public accounting experience
  • Preferred: experience in renewable power, solar, battery storage, independent power producer, or energy infrastructure industry
  • Preferred: experience with project accounting and renewable energy assets
  • Preferred: experience with Power BI and data analytics
  • Preferred: experience managing vendor relationships, service delivery, and escalation resolution within a U.S.-based Accounts Payable environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
