About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in a Virtual Youth Conservation Program in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service
- Attend virtual lessons and curriculum focused on Green STEM career opportunities
- Complete hands-on environmental projects
- Explore environmental resilience, fire-dependent ecology and management, wildfire mapping, and the intersection between humans and the environment
- Learn Leave No Trace practices
- Participate in career and professional development, time management and self-care, and leadership training
- Engage in service learning, mentorship, and hands-on projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be at least 15 by June 1 of the program year and may not be older than 18 years old before August 31 of the program year
- Must be enrolled in high school or a 2027 graduate
- Must be able to fully commit to program dates and meeting times
- Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the assigned work with or without reasonable accommodations
- Have a valid U.S. Social Security number or have applied for a valid Social Security number by start of program
- Must be able to obtain a work permit if needed
- Must be a citizen of the United States or permanent resident
- 3 weeks; 5 hours a day, Monday through Friday
- Hours depend on time zone
