About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and evolve systems collecting and maintaining 400M+ creator profiles across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
- Keep billions of data points fresh for search, analytics, APIs, and customer-facing products
- Design resilient services handling third-party API instability, rate limits, provider outages, platform changes, and partial failures
- Improve collection coverage and freshness while controlling request, proxy, storage, and compute costs
- Own the full production lifecycle from problem definition and architecture through coding, review, release, monitoring, and iteration
- Build monitoring, observability, and operational safeguards to detect gaps and regressions
- Collaborate with Data Search, Data Insights, product teams, and company leadership
- Participate in system design, indexing dependency work, request-routing reviews, and data-quality improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solid experience with high-volume backend or data systems where reliability, throughput, latency, and cost matter
- Experience shipping systems from concept to production, including scoping, architecture, implementation, release, operation, and iteration
- Experience designing distributed systems, including partial failure, retries, idempotency, backpressure, scaling, and operational tradeoffs
- Experience building resilient integrations with rate-limited, unstable, or changing third-party APIs or external dependencies
- Experience with proxy management or request routing, including high-volume traffic and anti-bot systems
- Operational ownership including observability, alerting, runbooks, and post-deployment operations
- Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems
- Clear cross-team communication and ability to explain tradeoffs and give direct feedback
- Bonus experience with social-media APIs, data-quality frameworks, large-scale collection systems, or freshness and coverage monitoring
