About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle diverse family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and property division
  • Balance legal expertise, client advocacy, and collaboration to maintain excellent client service
  • Manage multiple competing responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Prepare accurate legal documents and filings
  • E-file with county court systems
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff on case management
  • Attend the office once per week for administrative duties such as checking mail
  • Attend in person as required by courts and clients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 1–6 years of experience in family law preferred; other legal experience will be considered
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Proficiency in e-filing with county courts
  • Experience working with multiple attorneys in a law firm setting
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court staff
  • Ability to manage multiple family law cases simultaneously
  • At least one California-compliant paralegal qualification under California Business and Professions Code § 6450, including an ABA-approved paralegal program certificate; an eligible postsecondary paralegal program or degree with at least 24 law-related semester units; a baccalaureate or advanced degree plus qualifying law-related experience and attorney declaration; or a high school diploma/GED plus qualifying law-related experience and attorney declaration
