Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle a variety of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and property division
  • Balance legal expertise, client advocacy, and collaboration to maintain excellent client service
  • Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple competing responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate legal documents and filings
  • E-file documents with county court systems
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case management
  • Interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court staff
  • Attend court and client-related in-person requirements as needed
  • Go into the office once per week for administrative duties such as checking the mail

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 1-6 years of experience in family law preferred; other legal experience will be considered
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Proficiency in e-filing with county courts
  • Experience working with multiple attorneys in a law firm setting
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court staff
  • Ability to manage a variety of family law cases while maintaining high-quality legal work
  • Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously
  • Must possess at least one qualification under California Business and Professions Code § 6450: an ABA-approved paralegal program certificate; a qualifying paralegal program certificate or postsecondary degree with at least 24 law-related semester units; a baccalaureate or advanced degree plus one year of qualifying supervised law-related experience and attorney declaration; or a high school diploma/GED plus three years of qualifying supervised law-related experience and attorney declaration
