Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle diverse family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and property division
  • Manage multiple competing responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Prepare accurate legal documents and filings
  • E-file documents with county court systems
  • Interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court staff
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff on case management
  • Maintain high-quality legal work and client service
  • Identify and solve problems while staying composed and organized under tight deadlines
  • Go into the office once per week for administrative duties such as checking the mail
  • Attend court and client-related in-person matters as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 1–6 years of experience in family law preferred; other legal experience will be considered
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Proficiency in e-filing with county courts
  • Experience working with multiple attorneys in a law firm setting
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must satisfy California Business and Professions Code § 6450 through one of the listed education/experience pathways: ABA-approved paralegal certificate; qualifying postsecondary paralegal certificate or degree with at least 24 semester units in law-related courses; baccalaureate or advanced degree plus qualifying supervised law-related experience and attorney declaration; or high school diploma/GED plus at least three years of qualifying supervised law-related experience and attorney declaration
