About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in MFL Academy’s Residency Program in a California office (Oakland or San Jose)
  • Complete training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy after sitting for the Bar exam
  • Receive mentorship from the Learning & Development department and legal teams
  • Transition into an MFL Associate Attorney position upon passing the Bar
  • Manage direct client contact and cases involving divorce, child custody, financial support, and related matters
  • Develop litigation skills and practice as first chair early in the career
  • Complete training and develop client conversion skills
  • Study proactively, build confidence, ask questions, complete assignments, and prepare to handle client matters from start to finish
  • Manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Work collaboratively in a respectful and growth-oriented environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Register for the upcoming February or July 2027 Bar exam
  • Attain a passing score on the MPRE before sitting for the Bar exam
  • Timely submission and approval of Character & Fitness application by the State Bar
  • Experience in Family Law Clinics is a plus
  • Mock Trial experience is a plus
  • Submission of cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to candidate questionnaire
  • Must sit for the Bar and plan to reside in the state where applying
  • 3L or recent graduate status
