About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in MFL Academy’s Residency Program
  • Receive training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy
  • Receive mentorship from the Learning & Development department and legal teams
  • Transition to an MFL Associate Attorney position upon passing the Bar
  • Manage matters involving divorce, child custody, financial support, and related family-law issues
  • Maintain direct client contact and case management responsibilities
  • Practice and develop litigation skills as first chair early in the career
  • Complete training and develop client-conversion skills
  • Study, complete assignments, prepare, and develop the ability to handle client matters from start to finish
  • Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the team in a respectful, growth-oriented environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Register for the upcoming February or July Bar exam for Washington (no score transfers)
  • Attain a passing score on the MPRE before sitting for the Bar exam
  • Timely submission and approval of Character & Fitness application by the State Bar
  • Experience in Family Law Clinics is a plus
  • Mock Trial experience is a plus
  • Submission of cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to candidate questionnaire
  • 3L or recent graduate
  • Must sit for the Bar and plan to reside in Washington state where applying
