About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take technical responsibility for virtual environments based on Proxmox VE
Further develop the Linux systems landscape
Operate and optimize virtual machines, containers, and highly available cluster, storage, and network components
Analyze and resolve complex issues in Linux, virtualization, storage, and networking
Plan and coordinate IT infrastructure projects
Further develop backup, recovery, and business continuity concepts
Automate recurring tasks and improve operational processes
Document platforms and disaster recovery procedures
Secure systems and implement hardening and access control measures
Provide cover for colleagues responsible for Microsoft platforms
Work with the team to ensure support for the entire IT environment

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed vocational training as an IT specialist, a degree in computer science, or a comparable qualification
Several years of professional experience administering Linux systems and virtual infrastructures
Very good practical knowledge of Proxmox VE or other server virtualization platforms, ideally in clustered environments
Good knowledge of Linux distributions
Strong knowledge of virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, and IT security
Experience with backup and restore concepts, high availability, performance analysis, and sustainable troubleshooting
Practical experience with shell scripting, Python, Ansible, or comparable tools
Good knowledge of Microsoft platforms
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, and VLANs
Structured, self-motivated, and solutions-oriented approach to work
Service-oriented mindset and willingness to share knowledge with the team
