About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Learn and apply established principles and practices of civil engineering
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and work as part of a team
- Develop project designs, plans, quantities, cost estimates, and specifications under licensed Engineers
- Design and prepare documents for minor and major roadways
- Design and prepare documents for sidewalks and shoulder improvements
- Perform drainage design projects
- Assist a project manager with plan preparation
- Assist with cost estimates
- Assist with report writing
- Assist with client coordination
- Assist with permitting
- Participate in integrated design teams and national workshare
- Work on DOT highway design, county/city roadway improvements, bike paths, pedestrian walkways, heavy rail, and other transportation projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering required
- 2-5 years of experience working with an engineering consulting firm required
- Experience in transportation roadway design required
- Experience working with State DOT projects is a plus
- Experience working with MicroStation required
- Experience with AutoCAD and other computer-aided design platforms
- Experience with Civil 3D
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
- Legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and present required documentation at hire
- Ability to work sedentary for prolonged periods, interact with clients, and travel occasionally
