About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Practice in the nursing setting under the supervision of an RN mentor
- Assist with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care to oncology patients
- Maintain a safe and clean environment under Registered Nurse supervision
- Provide care based on patients’ age, physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs
- Collaborate with the RN and healthcare team in general patient care
- Assist nursing staff in treatment procedures using validated skills and competencies
- Take vital signs, weight, and intake-output measurements
- Make rounds and handle patient and family assistance tasks according to patient safety policies
- Identify and report environmental conditions that may put patients at risk
- Adhere to applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations and accrediting-body requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- BLS Certification
- Fundamental Computer Skills
- CNA not required for students who have completed Nursing Fundamentals course and are actively enrolled in a BSN program
- Successful completion of Moffitt’s Oncology Tech orientation, bootcamp, and checklist within the first 90 days of employment
- Student must be in good standing in a nationally accredited BSN nursing program and have completed the first semester nursing fundamentals course
- Concurrent enrollment in or completion of Complex Health Nursing 1
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Letter of recommendation from nursing school faculty
- Must work a minimum of one shift per pay period
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Provide Authorization to Test (ATT-NCLEX), schedule the test, and pass the test within 90 days of BSN graduation
