About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build LaunchPad, Monash Health’s development platform for clinical and operational challenges using modern technologies and AI
  • Contribute to foundational infrastructure and deliver production-grade applications and services for frontline staff and patients
  • Work across frontend and backend development
  • Collaborate closely with a Product Manager and provide technical leadership from prototype through production
  • Implement foundational infrastructure including modern data platforms, API management and an AI platform
  • Own technical delivery from prototype through production
  • Design and implement high-quality user interfaces supported by a component library and design system
  • Create reliable workflows and APIs with other engineers
  • Establish continuous integration, continuous delivery and automated testing practices
  • Establish engineering standards for code review, testing, documentation and secure development
  • Design and build applications meeting clinical safety, privacy and information security requirements
  • Work with Clinical Governance and Cyber Security teams to assess and mitigate risk
  • Engage directly with end users to develop practical, valuable and adopted solutions
  • Collaborate with product, project, clinical, technical, governance and cyber security professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated experience building and deploying production software systems and applications across frontend, backend and API development
  • Extensive experience with TypeScript and React/Next.js
  • Demonstrated experience building application-level CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Strong proficiency with cloud platforms; Azure experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of secure development practices and authentication and authorisation, including OAuth/OIDC and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Track record of working directly with end users to deliver adopted digital solutions
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and provide technical leadership
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, and/or significant relevant industry experience
  • Practical use of AI-assisted development tools and sound judgement in reviewing AI-generated code highly regarded
  • Experience building large language model-powered applications, including retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation and guardrails highly regarded
  • Familiarity with clinical terminology systems such as SNOMED CT-AU and standards such as FHIR highly regarded
  • Experience in health, regulated or security-sensitive environments highly regarded
  • Python development highly regarded
