About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as counsel for NA Ventures on advertising, marketing, competition law, consumer promotions, contract negotiation, contract disputes, litigation, manufacturing, corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property law, and data privacy
- Contribute to corporate and business unit strategic goals as a proactive member of the legal team and functional partner with business and specialist counsel
- Partner with the NA Ventures Legal Lead to set and execute legal strategies anticipating changes in laws, regulations, and the business environment
- Collaborate with the North America Legal Commercial team on legal strategy and cross-functional initiatives
- Develop and provide best-practices training to internal stakeholders
- Work with the Legal Operations Lead to select and retain competent, cost-effective outside counsel and experts
- Develop relationships with outside counsel, frame performance goals, guide work efforts, and monitor performance against budget
- Report to the Director & Senior Counsel, Give & Go and NA Ventures Legal Lead
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD Degree from an accredited law school or equivalent international legal education
- Must be eligible to practice law in New Jersey or eligible to become licensed as in-house counsel in New Jersey
- 5 years of legal experience at a top tier law firm and/or in-house experience
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience preferred
- Proactive business-savvy partner with excellent management skills and judgment
- Capacity to make decisions and give advice, demonstrating an understanding of overall business objectives and risks/rewards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience
- Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy
- High degree of initiative, self-direction, and ability to work independently and within a team
