About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish and lead the group’s legal function
- Oversee group-wide legal strategy, corporate governance, and multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance
- Advise the CEO and Board of Directors as a member of the Executive Team
- Oversee legal aspects of post-merger integration following Pockit’s acquisition of Monese
- Advise on complex group structures and intra-group arrangements
- Draft and review shareholder resolutions and maintain governance frameworks
- Oversee corporate filings and company secretarial functions
- Lead legal due diligence for M&A activities, equity fundraising, and post-transaction integration
- Lead negotiations for high-value SaaS, technology procurement, and strategic partnership agreements
- Oversee protection and enforcement of IP rights
- Develop and maintain legal playbooks and standard form agreements
- Act as primary legal contact with the FCA and other international regulatory bodies
- Ensure compliance with E-Money Regulations, Payment Services Regulations, outsourcing requirements, and UK/EU GDPR
- Direct legal dispute strategy, including pre-action correspondence and settlement negotiations
- Instruct and manage external legal firms
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales or a European jurisdiction
- Typically 6–8 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)
- Prior training or experience within a top-tier private practice law firm is highly desired
- Substantial experience in the Financial Services sector, with specific exposure to Fintech, E-money, or digital banking
- Deep understanding of UK corporate law, FCA handbooks, and European financial regulations
- Proven ability to act as a "Business Partner" to C-suite executives and manage cross-functional legal projects
- Mastery of complex legal drafting for bespoke commercial and corporate instruments
- Ability to lead negotiations for multi-million pound technology and payment infrastructure contracts
- High-level ability to interpret emerging regulatory developments and future-proof the business against legal risk
- Knowledge of European Law is advantageous given the group’s cross-border footprint
