About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor patients’ vital signs, intake and output, and record patient history
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, urinalysis, blood sugar, and hematocrit testing
- Assist physicians with physical examinations and medical procedures
- Prepare billing documents, insurance forms, diagnostic testing orders, medical records, and charts
- Enter examination-room documentation and transcribe medical records using electronic medical record applications
- Ensure medical record compliance through self-documentation attestation
- Update patient charts and submit documentation for physician review and approval
- Sterilize instruments and equipment using an autoclave
- Comply with medical facility policies, including HIPAA
- Order and maintain supplies and prepare examination rooms
- Maintain logbooks, abnormal laboratory results, and pathology specimens
- Schedule appointments, answer calls, record messages, and complete forms and test requests
- Provide patient education for wellness
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School/GED required
- Annual Assessment - OHS required
- Fit Test - OHS required
- Completion with certification of a Medical Assistant training program required
- Experience in and completion of an externship during study for Medical Assistant certification required
- Medical Scribe or Specialty certification required
- EPIC, Infection Control, HIPAA, OSHA, and additional qualifications as required by position
- 1–3 years of experience preferred
