  • Manage contingency plans for disasters and emergencies
  • Evaluate staffing needs based on budgets, census and acuity
  • Select, coach, mentor and evaluate staff; support goal setting and performance development
  • Facilitate staff education, competency validation, professional development and succession planning
  • Oversee staff orientation, ongoing competency and education requirements
  • Improve staff retention and satisfaction; implement recognition strategies
  • Conduct daily huddles, staffing meetings and monthly staff rounding
  • Implement progressive discipline and corrective actions
  • Develop and analyze operational and capital budgets and staffing productivity
  • Forecast revenue and expenses
  • Develop evidence-based standards, policies and procedures
  • Lead performance improvement, KPI development, data collection and outcome evaluation
  • Drive service excellence and patient satisfaction through Nurse Leader Rounding
  • Monitor and report sentinel events, participate in RCAs and manage incident reporting through Midas
  • Maintain regulatory and survey readiness
  • Adhere to the New York State Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code of Nursing Ethics
  • Manage team dynamics, conflict, change and crisis situations
  • Use information systems including LEM, Optilink, Kauffman Hall, Midas, PolicyTech and Epic
  • Maintain professional knowledge through education and professional activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current New York State Registered Nursing License/Registration
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN) required
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association preferred unless required by employees in the department supervised
  • Certification in area of specialty or CNML (Certified Nurse Manager and Leader) required within three years of hire/transfer into Nurse Manager role
