About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and own the first-line risk and control framework across relevant MoonPay activities
- Conduct risk and control assessments and establish control standards and documentation
- Establish governance, issue management, and ongoing monitoring of control effectiveness
- Embed practical, sustainable controls into business processes
- Translate regulatory requirements, policies, identified risks, and supervisory expectations into controls with clear ownership and accountability
- Establish control monitoring and testing programs
- Identify control weaknesses, assess their impact, drive remediation, and report on control effectiveness
- Develop the control framework for fiduciary, custody, and other regulated financial services activities
- Partner across the three lines of defence with business leaders, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit
- Establish procedures, governance, reporting, systems, and operating cadence for a scalable control environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of relevant experience within US banking or regulated financial services
- Significant leadership experience in first-line risk, business controls, operational risk, or a comparable control function
- Proven track record designing, implementing, and improving first-line control frameworks
- Hands-on experience with risk assessments, control design, monitoring and testing, issue management, remediation, and governance
- Deep working knowledge of US banking regulation and supervisory expectations
- Meaningful experience supporting fiduciary, trust, custody, transaction services, or closely related banking activities
- Strong understanding of the three lines of defence model
- Experience establishing effective first-line ownership and partnering with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and senior business stakeholders
- Ability to operate in a high-ambiguity, fast-scaling environment
- Strong technical judgement and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Ability to drive development of robust control infrastructure from the ground up
