About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Pre-register patients and update demographic and insurance information
  • Prepare patients for scheduled services, including check-in, parking, entry points, and wayfinding
  • Schedule Medical Center outpatient and clinic provider visits
  • Review outpatient services to ensure proper pre-certification
  • Research insurance benefits and determine patient financial responsibility
  • Explain claims processing and estimated out-of-pocket expenses
  • Research past-due balances and collect estimated payments
  • Prescreen patients for third-party assistance programs and coordinate applications
  • Act as a patient liaison for multiple Mosaic Life Care clinics
  • Communicate patient needs to providers electronically
  • Triage patient calls and respond according to standards of care
  • Meet department standards for call length and speed to answer
  • Identify third-party billing responsibility, including Workers Compensation or liens
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Computer experience required
  • Typing speed of 45 WPM and 10-key by touch required
  • Experience in collection and/or insurance billing preferred
  • Clinic office setting experience preferred
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification through ACA preferred upon hire
  • ACA certification within 9 months of employment
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
  • Medical terminology preferred
