About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide managed care expertise to the organization
  • Perform contract reviews and negotiations with managed care organizations, focusing on contractual and financial terms
  • Evaluate reimbursement methodologies and payer policy to determine financial impact
  • Monitor financial performance of managed care plans and identify reimbursement improvement opportunities
  • Provide managed care analysis and research for new programs and service lines
  • Maintain, validate, and model payment information for the cost accounting system and monthly reporting
  • Work with PFS and Payment Validation to identify trends and opportunities for enhanced reimbursement
  • Maintain estimated collection percentages for expected reimbursement semi-annually in the cost accounting system
  • Provide in-service education to caregivers in other departments as needed
  • Investigate and resolve payer issues
  • Lead activities specific to the Managed Care Analyst Team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, finance, or related field, from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience — Required
  • 5 years of healthcare or related experience in financial analysis required
  • Prior experience and knowledge using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Windows
  • Fundamental knowledge of clinical/financial information system use
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Computer abilities to relate well with customers and peers
  • Knowledge and application of fundamental clinical and financial concepts to analyze populations and provide concise summaries
  • Ability to prioritize and organize to maximize quality, value, and service
  • Ability to sit and view a computer screen for up to three hours at a time
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in often stressful environments, prioritize and meet deadlines, provide weekly project updates, work in moderate noise levels, and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions
  • Strong technical, professional, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work as part of a team
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
