About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the strategic vision and execution for extracting intelligence from petabyte-scale on-road fleet data and simulation ecosystems
  • Build advanced data-driven methodologies
  • Develop predictive and generative models
  • Serve as the primary analytical anchor for Systems Readiness and Performance/Metrics teams and the broader company
  • Translate raw road data into high-fidelity performance metrics informing vehicle launch readiness and safety-critical decisions
  • Execute rapid investigations into emergent fleet issues and convert operational data into insights for launch decisions
  • Build statistical models evaluating vehicle safety and performance across environmental variables and Operational Design Domains
  • Partner with Systems and Autonomy teams, including Perception, Prediction, and Planning
  • Convert telemetry and rapid-response findings into strategy documents, visualizations, and dashboards
  • Mentor and scale a dedicated four-person team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of professional experience leading data science or applied AI/ML initiatives
  • At least 5 years scaling data-driven programs for autonomous driving, robotics, or complex safety-critical engineering systems
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Robotics, Mathematics, Physics, or a highly quantitative field
  • Deep foundational knowledge in statistical analysis, density estimation, hypothesis testing, uncertainty quantification, and causal reasoning
  • Mastery of Python, SQL, and data science infrastructure libraries
  • Strong understanding of modern sequence modeling, including Transformers
  • Experience with distributed compute scaling frameworks such as Ray and AWS
  • Track record of translating ambiguous real-world performance questions into structured metric designs and concrete solution architectures
  • Ability to communicate technical data patterns and trade-offs to engineering peers and C-suite executives
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams, resolve technical disagreements, and establish data-integrity best practices
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to travel 1–2 weeks each quarter to testing sites, mostly Las Vegas and other domestic locations
