About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define architecture, requirements, and interfaces for Remote Operation, Fleet Orchestration, and Mapping systems
  • Design systems and processes to continuously improve interfaces between the Autonomy Stack, Operators, and Customers
  • Use data pipelines, simulation suites, and V&V campaigns to evaluate system performance and key metrics
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for systems, software, AI, Remote Operations, simulation, and validation teams
  • Improve systems such as Perception, Prediction, and Planning
  • Create documentation for operations and customer experience workflows
  • Model, document, and communicate complex interactions between systems
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies relevant to autonomous vehicles and systems engineering
  • Contribute to autonomous vehicle technology advancement and safety
  • Design and implement autonomous vehicle performance metrics across complex system interfaces
  • Improve AV performance evaluation efficiency and effectiveness
  • Deliver accurate data and insights to AV development teams
  • Travel to testing sites as needed, mostly to Las Vegas and other domestic locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of Systems engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Strong understanding of modern software development principles and production best practices
  • Experience with complex systems interfaces, ICDs, and interface design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex system performance evaluation and data analysis
  • Proficiency with Git and standard version control workflows
  • Experience with high availability infrastructure, customer experience/HMI, or mapping/routing for AV fleets
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and results to engineers, product managers, and leadership
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, accuracy, and rigorous testing
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, CI/CD environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, including 1–2 weeks each quarter to testing sites
  • Preferred qualifications include autonomous vehicle sensor data, planning and localization, simulation environments, V&V strategies, regression suites, data pipeline and visualization tools, statistical analysis, machine learning, HMI/UX studies, and safety standards such as UL 4600, ISO 26262, ISO 21448, and ISO/PAS 8800
