About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform the role of Lead Engineer
  • Develop advanced numerical models for complex underground works, including tunnels in soft ground and rock, large caverns, and deep excavations
  • Develop geotechnical interpretations using field investigation data and laboratory test results
  • Formulate non-linear soil and rock constitutive relationships and parameters for numerical analyses
  • Develop design solutions, technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for underground projects
  • Support new underground construction and rehabilitation of existing underground facilities
  • Support senior technical leaders with project pursuits, technical input, and bid-stage solutions
  • Mentor and supervise engineering staff
  • Ensure best-practice methodologies and technically sound solutions
  • Travel less than 10% for site investigation, inspection, and data collection

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering plus six (6) years of tunnel engineering experience
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of described experience
  • Six (6) years of experience analyzing and designing underground structures, including soft ground and rock tunnels using tunnel boring machines or conventional construction methods
  • Three (3) years of experience performing numerical analysis and design using Plaxis 2D, Plaxis 3D, FLAC 2D, FLAC 3D, or similar software
  • Three (3) years of experience with advanced soil and rock mechanics, ground investigation, and ground modeling
  • Three (3) years of experience developing geological models and soil and rock parameters for numerical modeling and design calculations
  • Three (3) years of experience using gINT, LeapFrog, or RockSciences suite of analytical models
  • Three (3) years of experience performing geotechnical analysis and design and producing construction drawings and specifications for underground construction and structural rehabilitation
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US; sponsorship is unavailable
