About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform design calculations and quantity estimation.
- Ensure design work follows company quality standards.
- Check design outputs and coordinate seamlessly with other sections and disciplines.
- Lead design teams to complete deliverables within deadlines.
- Manage tasks through performance management of design engineers and CAD technicians.
- Monitor design costs to ensure accountability, delivery, and profitability.
- Share knowledge and coach and develop junior staff.
- Lead district cooling plant design activities.
- Apply knowledge of water-cooled chillers, ETS stations, condenser cooling systems, and cooling towers.
- Work with chiller controls, refrigerant leakage systems, DCP piping, and control flow diagrams.
- Address thermal storage tanks, DCP efficiency optimisation, and SCADA monitoring and control.
- Work with chilled-water supply and return piping systems and controls.
- Manage projects across global markets, supporting bids and business excellence.
- Engage clients, drive quality outcomes, and build long-term partnerships.
- Report to a senior member in the Buildings sector and deliver outcomes as part of GDSC in India.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum qualification of B.E./ B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15+ years working experience in HVAC design, in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity.
- CEng and a member of the IET or CIBSE (Preferably).
- Experience in high rise buildings, shopping malls, hotels, metro projects, etc.
- Proficiency in HVAC software such as HAP and HEVACOMP for cooling/heating loads, ducting, piping design, equipment selection, and ventilation systems.
- Experience in smoke extraction, car park/kitchen ventilation, and stair wall pressurization systems.
- Experience reviewing and checking drawings and calculations.
- Experience preparing design basis, concept, schematic reports, and technical specifications.
- Awareness and knowledge of developing BOQs.
- Familiarity with local authority codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of international codes and regulations such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, BS, BSEN, and BSRIA.
- Experience working on international projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable and green building design practices and rating guidelines.
- Ability to independently handle design and lead engineers and technicians/modellers, including time and resource management.
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to liaise directly with clients.
- Must hold a valid Right to Work document in India; acceptable documents include a Passport, Voter ID, or Birth Certificate.
