About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver highway and drainage projects
- Complete assigned tasks according to quality requirements, timescales, and budgeted hours
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop design solutions meeting client requirements and regulatory standards
- Comply with industry standards and safety regulations
- Ensure work follows Mott MacDonald's quality standard procedures
- Provide technical mentoring to the Highways team and others
- Lead knowledge management and digital delivery initiatives
- Supervise and mentor team members, support professional development and progression, and perform designated line management responsibilities
- Foster right-first-time delivery and work with Project Managers and Principals on effective project delivery
- Help manage workloads and forecasting, maximise team utilisation, and allocate staff to projects or bids
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and new technologies
- Work within multidisciplinary teams on challenging projects
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and external clients
- Provide technical guidance while developing skills through company training programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree qualified in civil engineering (BE/B. Tech./ME/M. Tech.)
- Minimum 8+ years working experience in drainage and road design
- Experience and commitment to effective management of Health, Safety and Welfare, Safety by Design
- Ability to deliver high quality design models, drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications
- Excellent understanding of relevant standards, including the DMRB and Local Highway Authority standards
- Experience managing project teams and providing technical leadership
- Experience drafting bid proposals and raising early warning notices
- Ability to ensure delivery within time and cost constraints
- Experience working with clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, and Local Highways Authorities
- Confident and professional written and verbal communication with all levels of staff and clients
- Technical competence in surface and foul water drainage design
- Ability to independently deliver work and integrate with larger project teams with minimal supervision
- Experience preparing concept and detailed 2D and 3D car park layout designs and private street designs
- Thorough understanding and experience using 3-dimensional highway design software such as Civil 3D and InfoDrainage
- Experience in utilities coordination and working with contractors
- Ability to conduct independent technical checks
- General IT software skills, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and ProjectWise
- Valid Right to Work document in India, such as a Passport, Voter ID, or Birth Certificate
- Chartered Engineer (ICE or CIHT) is an added advantage
