About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support implementation of community strategies, regional initiatives, revenue generation and outreach plans
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships and inspire collective action for people living with and affected by MS
  • Support the organization’s strategy in the region and champion regional priorities in organizational strategy development
  • Broaden and deepen community engagement and outreach
  • Act as a regional spokesperson
  • Build relationships to advance impact in volunteering, fundraising, awareness, advocacy, programs and collective action
  • Identify, cultivate and support leadership volunteers, fundraisers, donors and community champions
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to strengthen regional capacity
  • Steward relationships with community organizations, corporate partners, MS healthcare and MS research centres
  • Create opportunities that advance the organization’s mission and community impact
  • Report to the Assistant Vice-President, Community

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and create meaningful connections within the MS community
  • Ability to plan and deliver community initiatives and events from concept through execution
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to build and steward trusted relationships with the MS community, volunteers, partners and supporters
  • Agile thinking with a focus on planning, innovation and results
  • Ability to use data and insights to inform decisions and strengthen engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated creative and innovative approaches in community building
  • Demonstrated education and/or progressive experience in community development, nonprofit organizations or related fields
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally to engage with communities of all sizes and types
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings
  • Background check required
