About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead estimating efforts for capital and expense projects and studies
Provide technical support for planning and estimating capital projects from feasibility studies through final funding, execution, and start-up
Prepare Total Installed Cost estimates, conceptual schedules, and staffing plans for concept and siting studies
Gather and validate estimate information from internal and external groups
Review and validate third-party trade partner estimates and manage reconciliation
Lead estimate risk analysis sessions and determine fit-for-purpose contingencies
Trend project costs, including implementing Target Value Delivery, from concept through final funding
Support internal and external project benchmarking
Maintain the department cost database, estimate assemblies, and cost modelling tools
Prepare project return cost data and close-out reports
Support front-end planning and funding processes, including schedules, resources, due diligence, market analysis, and risk analysis
Manage internal estimate resources and direct external workers in the region
Mentor the estimating group and coach project teams on FEL estimating methodologies and key inputs
Set up project budgets using a standard WBS and support trade bid package cost tabulations
Ensure continuity of contract and spend tracking mapped to estimating format for end-to-end cost management
Evaluate market conditions with the Estimating Steward, Global Capital Procurement, and external suppliers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree; Engineering discipline and advanced education preferred
10+ years of Estimating, Project Control, Capital Management and/or Project Management experience
Strong knowledge of estimating, capital management and financial processes
Broad knowledge of the Pharma and Biotech industry across multiple project types and lines of business
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven leadership demonstrated over multiple assignments
Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Presentation skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to travel across Company sites up to 30% of the time, with emphasis on ability to conduct work remotely
AI-fluency and curiosity in AI use case experimentation preferred
Experience in Lean Project Delivery Methodologies preferred
Knowledge of Estimating and Information Management systems preferred
Strategic planning or portfolio management experience preferred
Lean/Six Sigma experience and change management expertise preferred
Knowledge of AE, CM, and Professional Service providers estimating means and methods preferred
@RISK software experience preferred
Knowledge of market conditions monitoring preferred
