About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement integrated communications activities supporting oncology in-line products and Phase 3 pipeline assets
- Lead data milestone communications, medical meeting communications, and regulatory milestone and approval communications
- Drive integrated editorial strategy to raise external awareness of late-stage oncology pipeline assets
- Conduct targeted communications outreach through social and digital channels
- Identify and develop storylines, media opportunities, and thought-leadership opportunities
- Prepare and brief oncology leaders on message delivery, media engagement, and external speaking opportunities
- Develop strategies, programs, and materials for regions and subsidiaries worldwide
- Advise regions and subsidiaries on franchise and product communications issues
- Liaise with advocacy organizations, external experts, researchers, and trade and local news media
- Manage press releases, social media content, core response documents, and other materials through medical and legal review
- Build collaborative relationships with review boards
- Work with public relations agencies and help manage related budgets
- Work under the guidance of the Director, Global Oncology Communications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or life sciences field is required
- Minimum five years’ experience in communications or public relations
- Product communications experience, including managing communications for data and regulatory milestones
- Deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and media landscape
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Strong executive presence
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with great attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate within a matrixed organization
- Experience managing high volume communications through a medical/legal review board
- Ability to handle crisis communications and provide strategic communications counsel
- Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines
- Experience developing and implementing integrated communications programs
- Experience in internal and external communications, including executive communications and issues/crisis management
- Proficiency with social and digital channels
- Preferred: healthcare and pharmaceutical experience at a global publicly traded company
- Preferred: product launch experience
- Preferred: experience supporting R&D or oncology communications
- Preferred: experience working with C-suite and senior-level executives
- Preferred: budget and agency management experience
