About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and direct clinical research activities involving new or marketed medicines in the Cardiovascular and Respiratory therapeutic area
- Manage the clinical development cycle for assigned studies, including study design, initiation, execution, monitoring, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication
- Plan clinical trials and collaborate on operational plans based on clinical development strategy
- Provide medical oversight and manage conduct of ongoing or new clinical trials for investigational or marketed drugs
- Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety and efficacy decisions, new drug applications, clinical study reports, and publications
- Participate in internal and joint internal/external research project teams
- Support business development assessments of external opportunities
- Engage with other functional areas to support study execution
- Collaborate with commercialization, regulatory affairs, statistics, and manufacturing experts to manage clinical development projects
- Keep colleagues informed about study progress involving company and competitor drugs
- Provide expert opinions internally and externally on relevant scientific questions
- Maintain awareness of scientific developments and research methodologies
- Identify strong investigators and establish communications with prominent clinical investigators
- Attend scientific meetings to maintain competency and awareness of research activities
- Author development documents, presentations, budgets, and position papers
- Facilitate collaborations with external researchers around the world
- Travel on company business to manage future or ongoing clinical research projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
- Experience in industry or as senior faculty in academia
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical medicine experience
- Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in drug development or biomedical research experience in academia
- Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement
- Proven track record in clinical medicine and background in biomedical research
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Experience/skills in Cardiology, Clinical Development, Clinical Research, Clinical Trials, Cross-Functional Teamwork, Early Clinical Development, Intellectual Curiosity, and Pulmonology
- Board Certified or Eligible in Pulmonology, Cardiology, or related discipline preferred
- Strong preference for pediatric and/or adult care
- Prior specific experience in clinical research and prior publication preferred
- Must be a US or Puerto Rico resident
- No visa sponsorship
- Travel approximately 10% of the time
- Valid driving license: No requirement
