About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, manage, and develop a team of field-based health-systems Medical Affairs professionals
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and evaluate Payer & Health Systems Medical Affairs Directors
- Manage performance against objectives and competencies through field observation, coaching visits, discussions, feedback, and metric analysis
- Develop and monitor individual development plans
- Oversee portfolio product launches and in-line product medical affairs plans
- Execute medical affairs plans and prioritize payer and health-system accounts
- Provide insights to headquarters from internal and external health-system stakeholders
- Coordinate with Commercial, Country Medical Affairs, V&I Global Medical and Value Capabilities, and Outcomes Research leadership
- Oversee strategic account plans and medical account plans
- Collaborate on national and regional medical account coverage
- Monitor the healthcare landscape and allocate medical affairs resources
- Facilitate communication with senior headquarters leadership for key accounts
- Represent the Payer & Health Systems team on cross-functional workstreams
- Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, ethical guidelines, and standard operating procedures
- Support development and execution of the Payer & Health Systems medical account plan across the portfolio and account segments
- Lead medical account planning and management for prioritized health-system regional accounts
- Contribute to annual resource development and medical meeting coverage plans
- Provide project support to the Country Medical Affairs organization
- Contribute to annual budget planning and support management of the team budget
- Review and approve routine expense reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced health-care/science doctoral degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD)
- Minimum three (3) years in a customer-facing, field medical-affairs role or relevant experience
- Deep knowledge of the health-systems environment, including payers and IDNs
- Knowledge of medical account management principles and processes
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. health-care delivery-system structure and function and population health
- AI-first mindset and willingness to learn and implement AI-enabled approaches
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Strong teamwork capabilities and ability to lead across a full product portfolio and multiple customer segments
- Strong track record managing cross-functional leadership relationships
- Personal integrity, collaborative mindset, business acumen, and customer focus
- Understanding of U.S. regulatory entities, local regulatory agencies, and pharmaceutical-industry ethical guidelines
- Ability to organize, prioritize, work effectively in a changing environment, and motivate a team
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
- Ability to use technical platforms for collecting, reviewing, and disseminating medical information and team execution
- Preferred: five years of experience in a field-facing role
- Preferred: front-line management experience leading field-medical colleagues working with payers or health systems
- Preferred: knowledge of pharmaco-economics, quality management, value-based payment, and health-care delivery policy and trends
