About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and implement frontend features across discovery, catalogue, player, and editorial pages using React, TypeScript, and Next.js
- Own features end to end, including technical scoping, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and observability
- Work on media player integrations, adaptive streaming experiences, dynamic video previews, and high-framerate media components
- Analyze and optimize client-side bundle size, Core Web Vitals, server-side rendering performance, and edge caching strategies
- Set standards for code quality, testing, and code review
- Help other engineers improve their practices
- Experiment with coding agents and share effective prompts and skills
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, video CDN engineers, and backend teams
- Report to the Head of Frontend
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of frontend experience
- Proven experience building and operating complex, consumer-facing web applications at scale
- Expertise with React, Next.js/SSR, and TypeScript
- Expert knowledge of the DOM, browser rendering optimization, web performance profiling tools, state management strategies, and HTTP/media protocol fundamentals
- Understanding of media delivery and playback in modern web browsers
- Familiarity with HLS, DASH, Widevine, FairPlay, and CORS
- Experience with coding agents, reusable prompts/skills, and measurable AI adoption
- Commitment to maintainable code and test-driven development
- Experience with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright
- Strong CI/CD practices
- Clear and articulate technical communication in an agile, cross-functional engineering organization
- Experience with Slack and Linear
- Independent mindset and curiosity about product usage
- Nice to have: experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Nice to have: experience leading or contributing to cross-functional projects
- Nice to have: experience with design systems and close collaboration with designers
