About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Linux server infrastructure
- Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or similar distributions
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity
- Automate system administration tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools
- Manage server patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation
- Troubleshoot operating system, application, networking, and infrastructure issues
- Support VMware virtualization platforms and AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments
- Implement and maintain security controls, hardening standards, and compliance requirements
- Manage storage solutions, file systems, backups, and disaster recovery processes
- Collaborate with application, database, security, and network teams
- Participate in on-call support and incident response activities
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operating procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of Linux systems administration and engineering experience
- Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other Linux distributions
- Expertise in shell scripting and automation tools
- Experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and firewalls
- Experience with VMware, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies
- Knowledge of Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or SolarWinds
- Experience implementing security best practices and compliance standards
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or related Linux certification preferred
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments preferred
- Knowledge of DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines preferred
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools preferred
- Financial services, healthcare, or highly regulated industry experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
