About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Murata Power Solutions' Global Engineering organization across North America and Asia
- Provide technical and organizational leadership throughout the full product development lifecycle
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams designing and developing power conversion products
- Drive annual Engineering business planning and shape strategic engineering investments and organizational priorities
- Build and develop a high-performing global engineering organization across design centers
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices and partner with Operations on product introductions
- Implement Value Analysis/Value Engineering initiatives for cost reduction and product optimization
- Advise the CEO and executive leadership team on engineering strategy, organizational development, product innovation, and business priorities
- Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering directors, managers, and technical leaders
- Define technical strategies, prioritize investments, and allocate resources based on business value and market opportunity
- Drive engineering processes, project planning, execution, resource sharing, design reviews, and product development governance
- Develop and maintain engineering dashboards and key performance metrics
- Interface directly with customers on technical information, development progress, and product capabilities
- Partner with Product Management and Marketing on product roadmaps and technology strategies
- Evaluate new technologies, customer requirements, and market opportunities
- Resolve complex product development challenges and critical engineering issues
- Report to the CEO
- Travel globally up to 30% as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in power electronics or power supply design and development
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering leadership experience with direct responsibility for managing engineering teams and developing technical talent
- Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering organizations responsible for developing and commercializing power conversion products
- Experience managing multiple concurrent product development programs from concept through production
- In-depth understanding of the complete product development lifecycle, including concept development, design, qualification, manufacturing transfer, sustaining engineering, and documentation
- Strong technical expertise in power conversion and power supply design, including converter topologies, magnetics, control systems, EMI/EMC, thermal management, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Strong understanding of power supply qualification standards and global regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of power conversion markets including data center, telecom, industrial, medical, automotive, and renewable energy applications
- Demonstrated success leading and developing engineering organizations, including coaching engineering managers and technical professionals
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-facing leadership skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to travel globally up to 30% of the time
- Japanese language proficiency (written and spoken) is highly preferred
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Power Electronics or a related field is preferred
