About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review new business submissions for completeness, quality, and marketability
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies for commercial P&C risks
  • Submit applications to appropriate carriers and wholesalers
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with underwriters
  • Analyze coverage proposals and recommend optimal solutions
  • Maintain accurate records in the Agency Management System (EPIC)
  • Build and maintain relationships with insurance carriers and wholesale partners
  • Stay current on carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and market trends
  • Identify new markets and coverage solutions
  • Partner with producers to understand client risk profiles and sales strategies
  • Work with account management teams to ensure seamless handoff after placement
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex risks and coverage structures
  • Prepare comprehensive insurance proposals with the sales team
  • Review binders, quotes, and policy documents for accuracy
  • Ensure placements comply with internal and regulatory requirements
  • Identify workflow improvements and support standardization and best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5–7+ years of experience in commercial P&C insurance (agency, broker, or carrier)
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lines coverages, including GL, Property, Auto, Umbrella, Workers’ Compensation, and Professional
  • Proven experience in marketing and placing new business
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license
  • Experience with middle market or large account placements preferred
  • Established carrier relationships preferred
  • Prior experience utilizing Applied EPIC preferred
  • CPCU, CIC, or other industry designations preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple submissions and deadlines simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to evolving business needs and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Client-focused mindset with a sense of urgency
  • Team-oriented with the ability to influence
  • Candidate must be located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island for remote work; Hudson, MA or Groton, MA office locations are available
