About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and prioritise the software backlog across front-end and back-end digital platforms
  • Define and refine epics, features, and user stories for the software team
  • Act as Product Owner in an Agile Scrum/Kanban delivery environment
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Balance customer value, quality, technical debt, and delivery risk
  • Support software release planning and coordination
  • Align software development with the Firmware Product Owner, Digital Product Manager, and physical product category Product Managers
  • Manage cross-team dependencies to ensure end-to-end feature delivery
  • Work alongside Development and Project Managers, who own overall project delivery, hardware/firmware delivery, trials, regulatory approval, manufacturing, and launch
  • Execute the digital product roadmap for myenergi’s Home Energy Management System platform
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, UX, commercial, and support teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner delivering software, API-based services, or platform products
  • Technical literacy, including understanding of system architecture, IoT protocols, and hardware/software interfaces
  • Experience working in agile environments, managing cross-functional backlogs, and delivering iteratively
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally
  • Experience in the energy, EV, or smart home sectors is desirable
  • Familiarity with OCPP, Modbus, MQTT, or similar protocols is desirable
  • Experience delivering connected products combining hardware, firmware, and cloud software is desirable
  • Knowledge of the UK energy flexibility landscape, including grid services and dynamic tariffs, is desirable
  • Experience with data science and leveraging big data sets to create user features is desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
  • Agile or product certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe, or Pragmatic Institute are a plus
